Edward Hugh Muncy Obituary Vinita, OK -- Edward Hugh Muncy, 92, of rural Vinita, passed away at his home, May 17, 2007. Hugh was born, September 29, 1914, north of Vinita to Edward Lee Muncy and Bessie Rae Muncy. He attended grade school at the Kelso, two-room, country school outside of Vinita. He graduated from Vinita High School in 1932. Hugh was an active 4-H and American Royal member. After graduating, Vinita High School, he began working for the Vinita Motor Company. Later, Hugh worked for the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, spraying cattle to keep down anthrax. Hugh married Eloise Thompson on December 31, 1938. The couple lived in Craig County all their married life. He enjoyed working for Jones Construction Company out of Joplin, Missouri for many years. Hugh also worked for numerous other construction companies. He worked constructing the Glasshouse over I-44. Hugh also worked on the Post Office and Eastern State Hospital. He retired from BF Goodrich after 25 years. Hugh was a member of the local labor union and the Vinita Co-op. He liked to go to auctions; enjoyed reading and studying nature. Hugh had a large rock collection and a collection of over 100 teapots. He loved to work outside in his garden, raising tomatoes. Hugh loved bluegrass music and calling square dances. He loved to listen to Eloise play bluegrass and the couple hosted many music parties. Survivors are his loving wife of 67 years, Eloise, of the home; a sister, Audrey Boling of Vinita; one niece, Jeanie Perez of Arkansas; a nephew, Jimmie Hammer & his wife, Cindy of Kansas; a brother-in-law, David Hammer, also of Kansas and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wilma Hammer. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in the chapel of Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita with Brother Eddie Wrinkle officiating.
