Elbert Earl Walls, 81, of Vinita, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the Claremore Veterans' Center. Earl was born April 12, 1926 in Estella, OK to John and Bessie (Williams) Walls. Earl attended school in Estella, where he completed the tenth grade. He has lived in Vinita since 1968 when he moved from Bartlesville. He enjoyed fishing, especially for bass and crappie. He especially enjoyed playing dominoes at the Veterans' Center, and won many of their tournaments. Earl played dominoes against Governor George Nigh and Governor Brad Henry. He was a member of the Vinita chapter of the V.F.W. and was also a member of the Vinita Free Will Baptist Church. Earl served his country honorably in the United States Army, and later worked for the City of Vinita as a superintendent with the water department. Earl was married to his wife Betty "Longtail" Walls for over fifty years. She preceded him in death in April, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his son, Eric Earl Walls, his granddaughter Amanda Walls, two brothers, Lee Walls of Welch, OK and Ralph Walls of Drumwright, OK, and one sister, Thelma Jent of Vinita, OK. He is survived by his daughter Vickie Pannell and her husband Dennis, of Bartlesville, OK; his son Tommy Walls and his wife Vi of Commerce, OK; two brothers, Charles Walls of McPherson, Ks and Keith Walls of Boise, ID, and two sisters, Mary Lou Cooper of Owasso, OK and Allie Mae McGlasson of Vinita, OK. Funeral Services for Earl will be held Monday, December 3, 2007, at 2:00 PM, at the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel in Vinita. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Claremore Veterans' Center in Claremore, Oklahoma. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, December 2nd from 6pm until 8pm.
