Elberta Peach Falls, 92 year old Vinita resident, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Rosewood Terrace Care Center. She was born January 24, 1918 in the Pryor Creek district near Chelsea, the sixth child of Dr. Joseph William and Henrietta (Bowlin) Davis. Elberta attended school at Pryor Creek and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa. Elberta was known as Peaches. She lived up to her name, because she was always, as pretty as a peach. Elberta was a very outgoing, kind and generous person. Elberta enjoyed life at home with her siblings and was especially fond of her only brother John. She loved to sew, do needle work, cook and travel. Elberta spent quite some time in the Bay area of California. She was married first to Robert Riley from Chelsea, they lived part of the time in Kansas City, Kansas. In later years she married Eloda Morrison and lived in Lawrence, Kansas, and lastly she married John Falls and they also lived in Lawrence. Elberta worked as a Baker at the University of Kansas and retired from there after 20 years of service. She also worked for the Hird family and remained a true family friend. When her health started failing she moved to Vinita, to be with her sister Nellye Davis who preceded her in death. Elberta didn't have any children, but she was very close to her nephew, Willard "Sonny" Armstrong and his daughter Anna Marie. Elberta's parents, siblings, Emma Davis Baccus, Elizabeth Davis Phillips, Hazel Davis Armstrong, Marie Cleo Davis Brown, Nellye Davis, Loy Davis Barker, John William Davis, Sr. and husbands all preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn: two sisters-in-law, Mary Richard and Mary Evelyn Davis of Detroit, Michigan; twenty-two nieces and nephews, a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, many relatives and friends. Special friends, Donna Freeman, Billy Freeman, Rick Hird and Family. The visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The graveside service will be held Monday, October 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Shady Grove Cemetery near Chelsea, with Reverend Robert Ramsey, Jr. officiating.
