ARNOLD MOORE& NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Elizabeth Rodman Jones, age 93 and a Bartlesville resident since 1960, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 in the Jane Phillips Medical Center. Elizabeth "Betty" L. Rodman was born on December 25, 1922 in Norfolk, Virginia. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Fulford Rodman I and Elizabeth Lee (Jones) Rodman. She grew up and received her primary education in Norfolk. She then attended Converse College in South Carolina where she majored in Music and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree. Betty and William "Bill" Alfred Jones were united in marriage on December 23, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia and they made their first home in Norman, Oklahoma where Bill was enrolled at the University of Oklahoma. After Bill received his Master's Degree, he accepted a position teaching Chemistry at Paris, Texas Jr. College. They lived in Austin, Texas while Bill was working on his Ph.D. in Chemistry. After receiving his degree, the couple lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Baytown, Texas and Florida. In 1960, Bill became an employee of Phillips Petroleum Company and the family relocated to Bartlesville. Betty and Bill were members of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Bartlesville. Betty was very active in many areas of the church. She also held memberships in the Musical Research Society, Oklahoma and National Music Teachers Association and was very involved in OK Mozart. She was a gifted musician and taught piano for many years. Both Betty and Bill always loved music. Survivors include her son, William "Bill" N. Jones and his wife, Denise, of Plantation, Florida; a daughter, Elizabeth Irene (Jones) Sherry and her husband, William T., of Waco, Texas; granddaughter, Laura Blanchard of Waco; grandson, Paul William of Austin, Texas; great-grandson, Andrew T. Blanchard also of Waco; sister, Patricia "Tish" Blount (Rodman) King of Irvington, Virginia; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Rodman of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; and brother, Nathaniel "Nat" Fulford Rodman, Jr. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Betty's name should be made to the Musical Research Society Endowment Fund (Bartlesville Community Foundation), c/o Shawn Crawford, 208 E. 4th St., Bartlesville, OK 74003.
