Ella Lee (Allen) Bauers passed away January 2, 2014, at her home in Nowata surrounded by her family and friends. She was born October 11, 1927, in Delaware, Oklahoma, to Jesse Clarence Allen and Nora Ada (Allen) Allen. Lee attended and graduated from Nowata High School. Lee lived many years in Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked for casino's doing whatever they needed and worked her way up to card dealer and later was promoted to Pit Boss. She was the first woman casino pit boss in Las Vegas. Lee also owned a dry cleaning business as well as a limo business doing much of the work herself. She was a very hard worker and her work ethic was second to none. In her spare time Lee loved to read the paper and drink coffee. She enjoyed flowers and planted roses around her home. Lee loved her family so very much and caring for them was something she held near to her heart. Lee moved back to Nowata after the death of her mother. She stayed active up until the time of her death and traveled back to Vegas several times always driving herself. She cared very deeply for the people around her and will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Bauers is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Nora Allen, a son, Edward Almeda Espejo, a brother, Jack Allen, and her longtime companion poodle Feather. She is survived by a daughter, Debora Lynn Roberts and son in law Merle Dennis Roberts of Vancouver, Washington, a son, William Bletcher II of High Desert Correctional Facility of Nevada, four grandchildren, Edward Andres Espejo, Joshua Scott Fisher, William Bletcher III, and Brandi Lee Bletcher, two great grandchildren, three half-sisters , one half brother, a sister-in-law Barbara Jean Allen and her four sons and four daughters, cousins Thomas L. Allen, Johnnie Ray Allen, Robert Junior Allen Jr., Judy Pearsall, Jimmy Don Allen and Dona Robinson, many other relatives and a host of friends. A wake is planned starting Monday, January 06, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at a private residence at 143 S. Sycamore, Nowata, Oklahoma. The wake will last several days as to comply with her wishes of a Cherokee Indian traditional wake. A private family memorial service will be held at a later time. The family would like to thank the ones caring and preparing her for her final journey, Thomas L. Allen, and caregivers, Cheryl, RN with Good Shepherd Hospice, Crystal, Brian and Chris. Arrangements are entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Services of Nowata.
