Ella Mae Burns, age 88, a long time area resident died early Wednesday Morning, July 25, 2007 at Silver Lake Care Center in Bartlesville. She was born March 27, 1919 in near Lewisburg, West Virginia. The family moved to the Nowata and Alluwe, Oklahoma area where Ella Mae was reared and received her formal education. In 1943 she and Luther Olbert Burns were united in Marriage in Snowflake, West Virginia. Mr. Burns preceded her in death October 26, 1995. Ella Mae was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother that enjoyed raising and taking care of her family. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church, and in later years worked as a nurse assistant at Jane Phillips Hospital in the Geriatrics wing. Mrs. Burns is survived by two sons: Earl and Colleen Burns of Dewey, OK, Don Burns of Copan, OK, two daughters: Doris Smith of Langley, OK and Rosemary and Gilbert Watters of Bartlesville, 12 grand children and numerous great grandchildren and great - great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Junior Burns, her parents, four brothers and two sisters. A memorial has been established with Local Hospice Inc. St. North, Owasso, OK 74055 Graveside services will be Friday July 27, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville under the direction of the Neekamp - Luginbuel Funeral Home.
