Ella Mae Seals-Crawford, age 94 and former resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013, in DeSoto, Texas. Ella Mae Johnson was born May 23, 1919 in Strang, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Andy Johnson and Rhoda Eaton Johnson. She graduated from the Vinita, Oklahoma High School and also attended Bartlesville Business College. Ella Mae and Cecil Seals, Sr. were married in 1949 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and they made their home in Bartlesville. Mr. Seals was employed by the Cities Service Company. Ella Mae was an employee of Mrs. Helen Tyler Beasley, retiring in 1984. Mr. Seals preceded her in death on May 25, 1976. On November 13, 1981, Ella Mae married John D. Crawford in Bartlesville where they made their home. Mr. Crawford preceded her in death on December 3, 1989. She continued her home in Bartlesville. In June 2003, Ella Mae moved to DeSoto, Texas to be near her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Teresa Seals. Ella Mae was a member of the Greater First Baptist Church, Bartlesville and was active in the church choir; Renaissance Club; NAACP; Extension Homemakers; A.A.R.P.; National Group Concerned Women for America; Nutrition Project; and World Vision. At the time of her death she was an active member of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship - Silver Stars Ministry, Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Andy and Rhoda Johnson; husbands, Cecil Seals, Sr. and John D. Crawford; son, Alvin Seals in 1966; five brothers, Jeffrey Johnson in 1951, Cecil Johnson in 1974, and Henry Johnson in 1988, Jack E. Johnson in 2001, and Andy Johnson, Jr. in 2003; three sisters, Mrs. Rachel Alberty in 1991, Mrs. Viola Sweeny in 1988 and Mrs. Alice Martin in 1999. Survivors include sons, Cecil (Gilda) Seals, Jr. of Spring, Texas, Dennis (Teresa) Seals of DeSoto, Texas, Michael Seals of Crowley, Texas; six step-sons: Nathan (Vera) Crawford of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, John Crawford of Hominy, Oklahoma, Freeman (Norma) Crawford of Kansas City, Kansas, Charles (Debbie) Crawford of Hominy, Oklahoma, Rev. James (Queen) Crawford of Hearne, Texas, and Timmie (Carolyn) Crawford of Midwest City, Oklahoma; nine step-daughters: Birdie (Rev. Clarence) Boyd of Little Rock, Arkansas, Lois Tillman of Cincinnati, Ohio, Alice Walls of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ivory Thomas of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Barbara (Ed) Fant of Memphis, Tennessee, Eva (Terry) Reid of Cincinnati, Ohio, Beverly (Bill) Price of Morganfield, Kentucky, Joyce Smith of Richmond, Virginia, and Linda Thompson of Morganfield, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Crawford will be held on Thursday, June 6, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave., Bartlesville. Family will be present to greet friends from 6-8:00 PM. Services will be held on Friday, June 7, at 11:00 AM, in the Greater First Baptist Church, Bartlesville. Interment will follow the service in White Rose Cemetery.
