Funeral services for Elsworth Arnold "Punk" Wesson are 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the First Church of God with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Interment will follow at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service. Elsworth Arnold "Punk" Wesson, 85, lifelong Nowata County resident, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Journey Home in Bartlesville. He was born September 26, 1931 in Childers, Oklahoma to Idus H. and Frona (Jackson) Wesson. He served in the United States Army for two years in Korea during the Korean War. On October 17, 1952 he married the love of his life Twila Naydean Stanart in Alluwe, Oklahoma. They raised their four children in Nowata County and Punk worked for Funk Manufacturing/John Deere in Coffeyville, Kansas. He later farmed and ranched for the remainder of his life. Punk was a member of the First Church of God in Nowata and served on the Board of Trustees for the church. He served on the Delaware School Board as President for many years as well as the Delaware Round-Up Club. Ranching was his hobby and life, along with coon hunting and gardening. After retirement Punk enjoyed breakfast at the Bliss and later Depot Café. He enjoyed the time there talking with his friends. Above all he loved his family. His wife, children, grandchildren and other family members held a special place in his heart. Punk will be missed by all who knew him. Punk is survived by his wife Naydean of the home; four children, David Wesson and his wife Susan of Delaware, Rhonda Kesselhuth and husband Gene of Bartlesville, Brad Wesson and wife Lynn of Delaware, Janice Renfroe and husband Pat of Bartlesville; three siblings, Hoyt Wesson and wife Nita of Nowata, Joyce Robinson of Nowata, Catherine Sprague of Nowata, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Punk is preceded in death by his parents, Idus and Frona Wesson; four brothers, Charles Wesson, Leroy Wesson, Glen Wesson, Billy Gene Wesson; two sisters, Floyce Standeford, Willie Wesson.
