Emily Potts

ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Emily Christian Potts, age 37 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, in Jane Phillips Medical Center. Emily was born on March 6, 1979. She was the daughter of Richard Cardenas and Rebecca Sue (Brown) Cardenas. She received her early education in Houston where she graduated from St. Agnes Academy. Emily and Harry Potts were united in marriage on June 23, 2001 in St. Mary Catholic Church in College Station, Texas. They lived in College Station for six years. She graduated from the Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2003. They resided in Houston for two years while Harry was finishing his degree, before moving to Bartlesville in 2005. They have continued to make their home here since that time. Emily was a Master Photographer, having apprenticed under Doug Box Photography from 2001-2003 and from 2003-2005, she did work for Studio 1 to 1. She was the owner of Emily Potts Photography. In Bartlesville, Emily was well-known for her expertise in the photography field. She developed a devoted following and there were those who would not think of anyone else photographing their family or children. Emily was an active member of St. John Before the Latin Gate Catholic Church, Bartlesville. She taught (volunteer) Catholic Religious Education (CRE); and was active in the Women's Faith Group. Other memberships included Professional Photographs of America (PPA); and Wedding and Portrait Photographers, International (WPPI). She enjoyed gardening, wine and she dreamed of owning land. However, she enjoyed, more than anything else, time spent with her family. Survivors include her husband, Harry, son Richard, and two foster children; mother, Rebecca Cardenas of Houston; brothers, Evan and Eliot Cardenas, both of Houston. She was preceded in death by her father, Rick Cardenas. In lieu of flowers, donations in Emily's memory may be sent to Mary Martha Outreach, 1845 W. 4th St., Bartlesville, OK 74003. Also an education fund has been established for her children, Potts Children Education Fund, Arvest Bank, c/o Tricia Richards, 100 SE Frank Phillips Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74003. Come and go visitation for Emily will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM and on Sunday from 1:00-6:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. A Rosary will be held on Monday at 6:00 PM in St. John Before the Latin Gate Catholic Church. Deacon Dan Pickett will lead the Rosary. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, also in St. John Before the Latin Gate Catholic Church. Father Michael Pratt will be the celebrant. Interment will follow the service in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
