Ernest Eugene "Ernie" Gilbert was born August 24, 1958 in Millington, Tennessee. He lived the life of a military child, moving often and making friends everywhere he went. His life was filled with adventure and trying new things. Driving trucks, exploring the backwoods in Alaska, hunting, fishing, working as a ranch hand and finally as a handy man. He relished in picking up new skills to add to his toolbox of life. One of his greatest passions was theater. He loved acting, play writing, production, and everything about it. He even wrote a play just for his daughters inspired by playing with them in their imaginary world. Ernie never met a stranger and would be the first one to start the laughter in any room, especially if it wasn't an appropriate time. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest; by his mother, Anne and his sister, Elizabeth. He is survived by his daughters, Dianna Lynn, Alina Etta, Amanda Rose, Natalie Jean, Meagan Elizabeth and Emily Francis; his wife, Wendy and his brothers, Gene, George, Brian and Kim. He also leaves behind many friends and fans scattered around the U.S. He was one of a kind and will be missed. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Lanning's Downtown Grille, 111 W. 9th St., Coffeyville, Kansas.
