Ernest Saunders

Ernest Noble Saunders, 95 year-old resident of Camdenton, Missouri, died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Lake Regional Medical Center in Osage Beach, Missouri. He was born November 4, 1917 in the Miles District in Craig County, Oklahoma to Charles Ray and Leda Omega (Price) Saunders. Ernest attended Miles school through 8th grade, then graduated high school from Centralia. He was married to Ruth Gover on March 4, 1938 in Miami, she preceded him in death on December 4, 1994. Ernest was married to his present wife Dorothy (Cash) on February 14, 1997. He retired in 1977 from N & W Railroad where he worked as a switchman for over 35 years. While working for the railroad he lived in the Kansas City area for over 40 years, before moving to the Camdenton, (Lake of the Ozarks) area several years ago. Ernest was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife Ruth, his son, Ernest Ray Saunders who died December 15, 2012, siblings, Marguerite Flanders, Delmar Saunders, Clarence Saunders, Roy Saunders, Ardath Armstrong, and Lotus Bauman. The family includes: His wife Dorothy of the home in Camdenton, daughter in-law, Margaret "Georgia" Saunders of Hoschton, GA, sister, Loma Inman of Vinita, brother, Edwin Saunders of Salina; five grandchildren, Shelly Dampier, Kimberly and Steve Baran, Joni Smith and Dr. Dennis Smith, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Erin and Brett Fuller, Kacey Banaszek, Kelly Baran, Cassi Dampier, Savana Dampier, Angelle Zeigler, Austin Zeigler, Devin Smith, Abigail Smith and Stella Smith; and one great-great-grandchild Bentley Greybuffalo. The funeral service for Ernest Saunders will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Henry "Skip" McClain officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
