Etta Wathena Harrison, 93, of Nowata, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Claremore Indian Hospital. Etta was born on May 25, 1918 to Clyde and Bertha (Colston) Sanders in Wimer, OK. Etta was married to John (Sam) Harrison on October 25, 1935 in Bartlesville, OK. After WWII, they moved to California where she was employed as a private nurse and lived there until March of 1968 when they moved back to the area and built and ran Childers Grocery Store. Etta had many hobbies she enjoyed, which include crocheting, fishing, and yes, noodling. She often said they don't know how to noodle nowdays. She enjoyed canning, cooking and being in her garden. Etta was a horseback rider and she also enjoyed trips to the casino. Mrs. Harrison is survived by four children, Tom Harrison and wife Glenita of Fortune, California; Bertha Lanini and husband Dennis of Eugene, Oregon; Anita Egermeier and husband Steve of Childers, OK; Rhonda Hudson and husband Tony of Branson, Missouri; two sisters, Clyandia Harrington of Delaware, OK; Dora Pendelton of Bartlesville, OK, twenty two grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren. Etta is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Bertha Sanders; her husband, John (Sam) Harrison; three children, Louise (Jean) Gilliland, Garland Harrison, and John Harrison, Jr.; five siblings, Johnnie Chambers, Bud Sanders, Jim Sanders, Juanita Tennett, and Grace Fussell. Funeral Services for Mrs. Harrison will be held on Saturday, 2:00 p.m. on September 10, 2011 at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel with Keith Egermeier officiating.
