Eulalia Taylor 90 year old Vinita resident died Monday April 4, 2011at Rosewood Terrace. She was born Edith Eulalia Bogle on October 9, 1920 near Ketchum, Oklahoma to James Ernest Bogle and Lela Fawn (Smith) Bogle. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Norma Riley, and husbands Francis Taylor and Teddy R. Taylor. She is survived by one sister Imogene Bohannon of Tulsa; son Jim and wife Susan of Neosho, MO; daughter Jeanne Taylor of Vinita; grandchildren Angela Stringer of the Seattle area, Valerie Taylor of the San Francisco Bay area, Emily Taylor of West Palm Beach, Florida, James Taylor of Joplin, Mo and Wyatt Taylor Baird of the Los Angeles, California area. And a stepson H. R. Taylor of Wichita. Eulalia spent most of her adult life dedicated to teaching. She finished her teaching certificate at Northeastern State College at Tahlequah at age 19. She taught in Craig County area rural schools (Wayside and Dupree), Big Cabin, and Hall Halsell elementary in Vinita. She taught upper grades in the two room schoolhouses in the county and 5th grade and split 5th/6th at Hall Halsell. Highlighting her teaching years were two grants from the National Science Foundation to attend math and science workshops in the summers of 1963 and '64 in Illinois and Oregon. She left Vinita in 1965 and taught at Glenoaks Elementary School in Glendale, California until her retirement in 1986. She accumulated numerous credits beyond her B.A .and teaching credentials taking extended educational classes in California. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Vinita, teaching Sunday School and participating in the women's Circle in the ‘50s. During World War II, she spent time in Kingman, Arizona, while Francis was in the Army, where she worked on the base where he served, returning to Oklahoma when he was shipped out to Panama. Francis passed away in Vinita in 1960. She married Teddy Taylor in 1965 when they moved to California. After retiring, they moved to Springdale, Arkansas, where she became an avid quilter, winning awards for her work, and was active in the Methodist Church. She and Teddy enjoyed traveling, boating and fishing. She returned to Vinita after his passing. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi and in later years was a member of Vinita Retired Educators, AARP and Premier Worthwhile club. Visitation will be Thursday April 7, 2011at Luginbuel Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday April 8, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Rev.
