Eunice M. Echols, 92, long time Vinita resident, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at her son's home in Spavinaw. She was born June 29, 1921 in Salem, Missouri to Lewis and America Jane (Edgar) Tune. Eunice came with her family to Oklahoma by covered wagon, when she was a young girl. Eunice was united in marriage to Henry Echols on October 2, 1937 in Pryor, He preceded her in death in 1990. She was a very active member of the First Church of God in Vinita. Eunice liked to crochet and making quilts for her family. She loved celebrating Thanksgiving surrounded by her family. Eunice was retired from Eastern State Hospital in Vinita. Those preceding her in death include, her parents, husband, daughter Donna Groff in September of 2009, seven brothers, three sisters, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson. The family includes: son Sammy Echols and wife Vickie of Spavinaw; grandchildren, Regina Hopper and husband Tommy of Langley, Cindy Wayman and husband Randy of Vinita, La Wanda Witt and husband Bruce of Langley, Debbie Langley and husband Monte of Welch, Sam Echols, Jr. and wife Melissa of Adair; eleven great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; a brother Herman Tune of Big Cabin; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, a loving church family and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening December 18, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on December 19, 2013 at the First Church of God in Vinita, with Reverend Eddie Wrinkle officiating. Interment will follow at the Big Cabin Cemetery.
