Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home - Langley - 918-782-4400... Evan Allen Jones, Jr., a 90 year old Vinita resident, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Evan was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on May 25, 1926 to Evan Allen Jones, Sr. and Willie Estel (Weaver) Jones. He graduated from Pampa High School, Pampa, Texas. From 1944-1946 he served as Seaman First Class in the United States Navy aboard the submarine USS Archerfish as a Torpedoman's Mate. On December 25, 1946 he married Dorothy Merle Maddox. Evan enjoyed boating, fishing and golfing. He is a member of the Elks Lodge in Pryor, Past Exalted Ruler of the Ponca City Elks Lodge, and held various offices at the Houma, Louisiana Elks Lodge. He was a member of the Grand Cherokee Golf Club in Langley and Langley AA. He can be described as an all-around good fellow and will be missed by his friends and family. Survivors include his children: Michael Jones and wife Gayla of Tucson, Arizona; Steven Jones and wife Susan of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and David Jones and wife Lynn of South Orange, New Jersey. Grandchildren are: Leesa Lynch of Norman, Oklahoma; Jennifer Jones of Tucson, Arizona; Jessica Benavides of Hinesville, Georgia; Ashley Parrish of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Laura Holden of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Taylor Jones of Buckhannon, West Virginia; and Andy Jones of South Orange, New Jersey. Survivors also include numerous great and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Dorothy. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday October 6, 2016 at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Chapel in Langley. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday of October 7, 2016 at the First Christian Church of Langley with Pastors Lewis Bunch and Dan Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Ketchum Cemetery.
