Evelyn Ida Etter of Grove, Oklahoma died at 11:14 a.m., Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Integris Grove General Hospital. She was 89. Evelyn was born June 3, 1919 in Avenel, New Jersey to Carl Emil and Ida (DenBleyker) Petersen. After receiving her high school education, she continued her schooling by completing cosmetology school. She was a licensed beautician. Evelyn moved to Independence, Kansas and began working at Echlin Corporation as a press operator in 1954. On October 28, 1955, she married William Donald "Don" Etter in Independence. Following Evelyn's retirement in 1983, they moved to the Grove area where Evelyn was an active member of Women of the Moose Chapter 1771. She loved to cook and greatly enjoyed baking for the WOTM fundraisers. Evelyn also enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, knitting, and embroidery. She loved to play Bingo. August 7, 1996, she lost her husband of 46 years. Evelyn is survived by two sons and their wives, Bob and Doris Wilson of Gentry, Arkansas and Richard A. and Jane Wilson of Independence, Kansas; one brother, Charles Petersen of Tyler, Texas; six grandchildren, Eric Wilson and his wife Michelle of Decatur, AR, Jennifer Jantz and her husband Jeff of Chickasha, OK, Richele Hayes of Independence, KS, Renae Wilson of Augusta, GA, David Wilson of Independence, KS, and Micheal Walker and his wife Jill of Wichita, KS; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove. Pallbearers will be Eric Wilson, Jeff Jantz, David Wilson, Micheal Walker, and Ryan Hayes. The graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to the Women of the Moose to aid local charities. Memorials may be sent in care of the funeral home. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, 711 S.
