Evelyn Ruth Minick was born on July 23, 1919 in Oso, Washington. She was the daughter of George I. Minick and Nora (Kiper) Minick. Shortly after her birth, the family moved from Oso to Arkansas. When Evelyn was 13 years old, the family moved to the Ramona area where she finished her formal schooling. On September 4, 1935, Evelyn and Lawrence Gray were united in marriage in Ramona where they raised their family. Mr. Gray preceded her in death in 1989 and she continued her residence in Ramona. Evelyn was a member of the Happy Hill Church in Ramona. She was a "Prayer Warrior" and she taught Sunday school for many years where she was a longtime song leader. The Lord had given her a beautiful voice and she sang at many funerals for loved ones and friends. She always enjoyed reading the Bible and other religious books and she loved her family and church. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; four children, Betty Gray, Dale Gray, Dorothy Gray and Nancy Gray; five brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by seven children, Donald L. Gray and his wife, Mary, of Ramona, Lenora Fugate and her husband, Willard, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Wayne Gray and his wife, Janice, of Searcy, Arkansas, Lola Barnes and her husband, Darrell, of Bartlesville, Bobby Lee Gray and his wife, Janette, of Winfield, Kansas, Deloris King and her husband, Don, of Mission, Texas, and Bonnie Spratt and her husband, Jack, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
