Funeral services for Evelyn Mae Truitt will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011, at the First Church of God, of Nowata, with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Washington Cemetery, Lenapah, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata. Mae Truitt (Granny Mae) 81, of Nowata passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. She was born March 4, 1930, in Nowata County to Byron and Jewell Grace (Plecker) Epperson. She attended and graduated from Lenapah High School. On October 31, 1948 she married Burman Truitt in Nowata They made their home in Nowata County where they farmed, ranched, and had a dairy. Mae attended Sunday School in Diamond Point for years and is now a member of the First Church of God of Nowata. She loved singing in her high school choir and church. Everyone she met was a friend. She loved to cook and always had something for visitors to eat. Mae had a collection of cookbooks she loved to read. Taking care of the farm, her husband, her children, and grandchildren was her favorite love. Granny Mae will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding Mrs. Truitt in death are her parents, Byron and Grace Epperson, her husband Burman, and a nephew Kelly Briggs. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Ivie and husband Chester, of Bartlesville, grandsons, Kenneth Ivie and wife Kim, of Nowata, Rick Ivie (currently serving our country in Afghanistan) and wife Leslie, of Bartlesville, great grandchildren Keeleigh Mae, Kollin, Kenadee, Kaden, Leah, Addison, and Kaylan, a sister Geraldine Briggs and husband Bob, of Nowata, a niece Debbie Pullen, of Nowata, many other relatives and a host of friends.
