Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home Bartlesville, OK (918) 336-5225 E. Dallas Degraffenried, age 99, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017, in the Heritage Villa in Bartlesville. Dallas Degraffenried was born on May 29, 1918 at Passover, Missouri. He was the son of George W. and Alice (Stamper) Degraffenried. In 1920, Dallas moved to Robinson, Missouri with his family. He received his elementary education in Robinson and graduated from Robinson High School. Dallas moved to Bartlesville in 1941 where he was employed by KWON Radio as an Engineer. He was the Engineer that turned the power on when KWON went on the air. He worked for them until 1945 but still did some substitute work for KYFM. After that, Dallas took a job at Phillips Petroleum Company as an Instrument Engineer. Dallas retired in June 1980 after 32 years of loyal service. On April 7, 1946, Dallas married the love of his life Luise E. Hicken at Kansas City, Missouri. They made their home in Bartlesville, where they raised their children, James and Carol. Dallas was very involved in the Bartlesville Amateur Radio Club and had a Class 1 radio operator's license. Dallas enjoyed many hours in the garage out back working with his radio equipment. Dallas had a passion for steam engines as well and was a member of The Oklahoma Steam & Gas Engine Association. Dallas was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Dallas is survived by his son, James P. Degraffenried of Keithville, Louisiana, his daughter, Carol A. Theobold, of Bartlesville, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Luise, in 1998, three brothers, Ekel, Carlis, Mitchell, and a sister; Bessie Arnold. Funeral services for Mr. Degraffenried will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation at 2212 NW 50th St, #158, Oklahoma City, OK 73112 or at their website, jdrf.org.
