Flora May Tarbox, 93, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with her Lord early Monday morning. Flora May Kucera was born on July 20, 1916 in St. Louis, Missouri, the only child of Anton (Tony) Kucera and Flora Mary McNamee Kucera. She grew up in Santa Monica and Hollywood, California, completing her education at Hollywood High. Flora May was one of Walt Disney's original Mouskateers. She and her family later returned to St. Louis where she worked as a dental technician. There, she met and married George R. Tarbox, Jr. on August 8, 1942. They moved to Bartlesville in 1950 where George was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company as a Chemical Engineer before his retirement in 1979. George preceded her in death in 1993. Flora May and George were the parents of eight children. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker who enjoyed gardening, latch hooking and playing bridge. She was an avid reader, particularly enjoying mysteries. Flora May embraced life and was well known by friends and family for her positive outlook and great sense of humor. For many years she was a member of St. John Catholic Church, and later St. James Catholic Church in Bartlesville. Flora May is survived by her children, Maurene Thompson of Bartlesville; Ann Brook Halsell and husband, Kent, of Coweta; George Tarbox III and wife, Cindy, of Frisco, Texas; Jeanne Crandall and husband, John, of Lewisville, West Virginia; Jill Yarcho and husband, Al, of Kettering, Ohio; Phil Tarbox; and Nick Tarbox and wife, Linda, of Auburn, Washington. She has 13 grandchildren, Barbara Wilson, Jeff Halsell, Tracy Thompson, Brett Tarbox, Jennifer Johnson, Katie Toler, Maggie Bradley, Lori Brown, Amanda Savage, Jimmy Yarcho, Nicholas Tarbox, Matthew Tarbox and Elizabeth Tarbox. She was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren. Preceding Flora May in death were her husband of 51 years, her daughter, Lorraine Parrish, and sons-in-law, Roger Parrish and Floyd Thompson. Pallbearers include Jeffrey Halsell, Brett Tarbox, Nicholas Tarbox Jr., Scott Bradley, Brad Toler and Brian Wilson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 10 in the Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home with Father Gregg Elliott, Director of Pastoral Care at Jane Phillips Medical Center and Mr. David Mabon of Bartlesville officiating.
