Florence Grace Oetken Moyer passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At the time of her death she was a resident of Brighton Gardens Assisted Living in Tulsa. Florence was born April 4, 1919 in Kansas City, Missouri to Fred and Juanita Oetken. She married Golden A. Moyer, Jr. on June 25, 1941 and moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1945 when her husband was transferred to Bartlesville by Phillips Petroleum. Although maintaining a home in Bartlesville, the Moyers traveled and resided throughout the Continental United States and abroad including Japan and Kuwait. Florence volunteered with the American Red Cross, taught Mother and Baby Care and was a recipient of the Clara Barton Award. She was a teacher for the Sogetsu School of Ikebana (oriental flower arranging) and long time member of the Bartlesville Rose Garden Club, Bartlesville Chapter of Sogetsu Ikebana, Tulsa Ikebana International and Mother's Sewing Club. Florence was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years. She is survived by son Ross E. Moyer and wife Sara of Santa Fe, New Mexico; daughter Marilyn J. Carlton of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister Elizabeth Tucker or Cornith, Texas and nieces Sandra Crowley and Carol Tucker. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (825 NE 13th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104) in Florence's memory. The family will greet friends at the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home on Saturday June 28, 2008 from 2 to 4 P.M. Funeral services for Mrs. Moyer will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2008 at the Gage Cemetery in Gage, Oklahoma. Funeral services are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
