Floyd Hughes

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK.....918-786-2261.....Floyd Earl Hughes, Jay resident, passed away on Friday September 5, 2014 at his home at the age of 74. Floyd was born on June 24, 1940 in Delaware County, OK to the late Alvin Lee Hughes and Deonna (Quick) Hughes. He graduated from Jay High School in 1958. During his adolescent years, he met Patsy Nickell. He married Pat on November 9, 1959 at her home in Delaware County. Floyd worked his first job at the Peterson Chicken Plant in Decatur, AR. In the early 1960's he began driving a truck until becoming a carpenter in the early 1970's. He worked for himself doing this trade until he retired in 2004. Floyd enjoyed fishing, hunting especially for squirrels, gardening, yard work, collecting lawn mowers but most of all he loved to spend time with his family especially his grandkids. He will be greatly missed. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Syona Kay Hughes, and one brother Lonnie Ray Hughes. He is survived by his wife Pat of the home; one son Terry Hughes and his wife Jolana of Jay, OK; one daughter Debbie McCormick of Jay, OK; four grandchildren: Jeremy, Tyler and his wife Jennifer, Deonna, and Hunter; five great grandchildren: Jayden, Chesni, Breelyn, Jaleigh, and Jaxton; and many other loving family members and a host of friends. The funeral services celebrating Floyd's life will be held 2PM Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Jay, OK with Pastor Johnnie Faught officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hermon Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6PM to 8PM on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK. Family and Friends may view Floyd's book of memories at www.honoringmemories.com Casket bearers will be Jeremy Newkirk, Tyler Hughes, Hunter Hughes, Marvin Hughes, Seth Hughes, and Monty Hughes. Honorary casket bearers will be Ronnie Vaughn, Mike Gibe, Rusty Johnson, and Deonna McCormick.
