Frances Fairless

Frances Katherine Worthington Fairless, 89, of Oklahoma City passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Frances Katherine Deen was born on April 1, 1920 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Frank R. Jackson and Catherine Evans Jackson. She graduated as the Salutatorian from Nowata High School in 1937. Frances was a devoted member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dewey until the time she moved to Oklahoma City in 1996. Frances married James Mark Worthington on December 26, 1941 in Nowata. They were married for 28 years before Jim preceded her in death in 1969. She was a secretary for the United States Soil Conservation Service until her retirement in 1982. Frances married James McCarroll Fairless in 1982; after 13 years of marriage James preceded her in death in 1995. Frances was a member of a bowling league for several years; she also belonged to a bridge club in Nowata. After she moved to Oklahoma City she volunteered for the Contact Help Line. Frances is survived by 2 daughters Barbara Anne and her husband Tom Flanagan of Tulsa, and Janice Kay and her husband Jim Lisko of Oklahoma City, 3 step children Jan and his wife Jo Fairless of Tulsa, Stephen and his wife Iris Fairless of Shawnee, and Cheri and her husband Logan Fowler of Dewey, 1 grandson Mitch Narney of Oklahoma City, 5 step grandchildren Sarah Fairless of Tulsa, Katie and her husband Brian Mayland of Darien, Illinois, Logan Nathaniel Fowler of Dewey, Jason Fairless of Shawnee, Theo Schuldt of Shawnee, 5 great step grandchildren Kaiden Fowler, Bear Fairless, Eden Fairless, Ashley Smith, Britney Smith, and numerous other extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Otis and Catherine Deen, her husband Jim Worthington, and second husband James Fairless, and 5 half brothers, including Arthur Johnson and Eldred Johnson. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Benjamin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Crawford officiating. Final committal rites will be accorded Mrs. Fairless in the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009 at Benjamin Funeral Home.
