Frances Irene Smith, born August 19, 1921 in Adamson, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in Sugar Land, Texas. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Albert, she is survived by her three loving daughters, Lorna Lash and her husband Rick of Chatsworth, CA, Linda Smith and her husband Jim of Kearney, MO and Kay Davis and her husband Grady of Sugar Land, Texas. She was a very special "Grammie" to her four grandchildren, Elizabeth Mael and her husband Tim, Jamie Smith and his wife Angie, Tara Ratliff and her husband Joe, and Kalyn Clifford. She will be greatly missed by her six great-grandchildren, Sean Mael, Joshua Ratliff, Shelby Mael, Joel Ratliff, Sydney Mael, and Cameron Smith. Frances is also survived by her two sisters, Julia Mosley and Essie Looker. She leaves behind nephews, nieces, and cousins. Frances and Albert made their first home in Okmulgee, Oklahoma where their three daughters were born. Albert was transferred to Kansas City, Kansas (with Phillips) where they lived for several years. In 1953, they were transferred again to Dewey, where Frances made her home until May of this year. Due to health reasons, she moved to Sugar Land to be closer to family. Frances was a long-term employee of Sears Roebuck, where she retired as a credit manager of the Bartlesville store. For many years, Frances was an active member of the Dewey Chapter of the Eastern Star. Among her many accomplishments were her posts as Worthy Matron and a former Grand Representative of Oklahoma to Pennsylvania. Family was "everything" to Frances and she was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to visit family in Texas, Missouri, and California. She especially enjoyed a number of trips to Hawaii. She loved listening to music as well as dancing, and she passed this on to her daughters and grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, August 31, 2007 in the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home from 7-9p.m. An Eastern Star service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 11:00 am in the Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp - Luginbuel Funeral Home, with the Reverend Terry Long of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Dewey Cemetery. If so inclined, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
