Frances Fern Morrison
Frances Fern Morrison, 97, widow of George J. “Pete” Morrison and long time resident of Bartlesville, passed away January 23, 2021, at Colonial Oaks Memory Care Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Frances was born September 29, 1923 on a farm north of Dewey, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Robert J. and Bessie Johnson Surrett. She attended school in Copan and Dewey. She loved horses and participated in the Dewey Roundup for several years.
Frances and George were united in marriage on June 5, 1940, in Dewey and moved to Bartlesville. She worked as a window trimmer for JCPenney before she was employed by Phillips 66 as a map designer. Following Pete’s career in marketing, they lived in Vinita, Oklahoma, Tampa, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia, moving back to Bartlesville in 1959. After his retirement, they established a second home in Durango, Colorado. Frances loved the mountains and the cooler weather.
Frances had many animals throughout the years, and she loved them all, especially her black Scotties.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Yvonne and husband Dr. Bob James of Bartlesville; brother Del Surrett of McComb, Mississippi; grandson George James and wife Keely of Stillwater, Oklahoma; granddaughter Susan James and Jim Grant of Las Vegas, Nevada; two great-granddaughters, Kami and husband Shannon Shipman of Stillwater, and Katy and husband Josh Baker of Mulhall, Oklahoma; and four great great-grandchildren, Kannon Shipman, Georgia Shipman, Ellie Baker and Mabrey Baker.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Delbert Surrett.
