Funeral services for Frances Stookey will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 11, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Nowata. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata. Frances Fern Stookey was born April 10, 1924, in Delaware, Oklahoma, to Arthur Lee, and Addie (Turner) Coker. She passed from this life February 3, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital, in Tulsa. She was 86 years old. Educated in Delaware, Frances lived her entire life in the Delaware and Nowata area. On December 30, 1945 she married Arthur Dewey Stookey in Coffeyville, Kansas. They made their home in Nowata where they raised their family. Frances was a very loving wife, and mother. She loved to read her bible, sing, and take care of the home. Her family was dear to her heart. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding Mrs. Stookey in death are her parents, Arthur and Addie Coker, her husband Art, two sons, Teddy Michael Byrd, and Steven Dwain Stookey, brothers and sisters, Flora Dodson Vester, Susie Chappell Erble, Floy M. Coker, Clomer L. Coker, W.W. Jim Coker, Douglas T. Coker, Elven L. Coker, Mack Coker, and a granddaughter Lisa Hauptmann. Survivors include her daughter Mary Ann Stookey, of the home in Nowata, a brother, Donald M. Coker, grandchildren, Stephanie Butler, A.J. Stookey, Jennifer Stookey, Jana Byrd, Pamela Eiter, several great grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.
