Frances Rae Vineyard, age 85, a resident of Dewey, died Monday morning at Forrest Manor Nursing Home in Dewey, Ok. Mrs. Vineyard was born in Chautauqua, Kansas, October 19, 1922, the daughter of Raymond Alfred Moffitt and Alma Mae (McDowell) Moffitt. She was raised and educated in Independence, Kansas. Mr. William J. Vineyard and Frances Rae (Moffitt) Vineyard were united in marriage July 21, 1941 in Independence, Kansas, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1990. Soon after their marriage, Mr. Vineyard served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II. The family then moved to rural Dewey where they made their home and raised their family. Mrs. Vineyard worked for the Dewey School System for 14 years before retiring with her husband. Mrs. Vineyard loved her family and friends and she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Frances was a dedicated church member and enjoyed being involved in numerous church activities. She was a member of the Dewey First Baptist Church and ran the kitchen for many years serving meals to the church family. She loved canning, cooking for friends and family and fishing. She will be dearly missed. Mrs. Vineyard is survived by her four children, Billy Ray Vineyard and his wife Shirley of Houston, Texas, Betty Jean Langston and her husband Rick of Sapulpa, Ok, Wayne Vineyard and his wife Linda of Bartlesville and Pat Bush and her husband David of Ponca City, Ok, One sister Nela Ransbottom of Bartlesville, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Alma Mae Moffitt, her husband William J. Vineyard and one brother Gene Moffitt. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Vineyard will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Dewey First Baptist Church. Funeral services are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
