Francis M. "Brink" Brinkmeyer, age 77, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Jane Phillips Medical Center. He was born June 4, 1934 in Independence, KS, the son of Carl and Beulah (Booe) Brinkmeyer. Francis grew up in Independence,KS graduating as valedictorian of the Independence High School senior class of 1952. He attended Southern Methodist University for two years and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity before transferring to the University of Kansas and completing his Bachelor's degree in 1957. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Laird on March 3, 1957. He enlisted in the United States Air Force March 9, 1957, serving his country for two years. While in the Air Force, he received a degree in meteorology from the University of Washington. Upon his discharge on December 8, 1959, Francis began a 35 year career with Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, working in the research and development center, as a chemical engineer. It was in Bartlesville, Francis and Carolyn made their home and were blessed with three children: Kirk, Alan and Stephen. Francis and Carolyn were members of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. They also belonged to the Hillcrest Country Club and the 30 Couples Dance Club. He was very generous with his time, volunteering at the Frank Phillips Home and tutoring students at Wayside Elementary School. Francis liked going camping, fishing, playing bridge and poker. He was a 50 year member of his poker club. He especially enjoyed traveling. Some of his favorite trips were to Africa and the Middle East. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Francis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Brinkmeyer of the home; three sons, Kirk Brinkmeyer and his wife, Anne, of Oklahoma City, Alan Brinkmeyer and his wife, Denise, of Oklahoma City and Stephen Brinkmeyer and his wife, Amy, of Rowlett, TX; 11 grandchildren, Kristen, David and his wife, Kelly, and Joseph all of Oklahoma City, Maechelle of Charleston, S.C, Christy, Amanda, Jack, Stephanie and Marissa all of Oklahoma City, and Emma and Matthew of Rowlett, TX; and two great grandchildren, Bryer and Marley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Beulah Brinkmeyer and brother, Leon.
