ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Francis Lewis Peters, age 91 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015, in Forrest Manor Nursing Center, Dewey, Oklahoma. Francis Lewis "Francis" Peters was born on October 4, 1924 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was the son of Frank Peters and Elizabeth (Nicholson) Peters. He was raised in the Bartlesville community where he received his education, graduating from Bartlesville school system. Francis entered the military (U.S. Army) where he served in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and enrolled in college. He attended Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University) where he received his B.S. in Agriculture, while minoring in Mathematics. He also taught math at the University. He moved to Chelsea, Oklahoma where he taught math to grade school students. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Jewell Morrison. They were married in Vinita, Oklahoma in 1952. In approximately 1953, Francis and Jewell moved to Bartlesville, where he was employed with National Zinc Corporation. He retired as a Foreman with National Zinc after 35+ years of service. Jewell preceded Francis in death 1984. He had continued his residence in Bartlesville after his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Jewell. He is survived by his children, Lois Harbour and her husband, Randy, of Bartlesville, Sheila Granger and her husband, Paul, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Darla Peters of Bartlesville, and Lewis Peters of Bartlesville; six grandchildren, Jessica Harbour of Bartlesville, Jonathan Harbour also of Bartlesville, Michael Cox and his wife, Brandy, of Sedan, Kansas, Russell Cox and his wife, Roberta, of Titusville, Florida, Miranda Peters of Bartlesville, and Jill Smith of Bartlesville; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; siblings, Joseph Peters and his wife, Betty, of Deming, New Mexico; and Shirley Goss and her husband, Sam of Arlington, Washington; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076. A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home chapel, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Father Archie Fernandez will be the celebrant. Interment will follow the service in White Rose Cemetery.
