Frank Edward DeMoss, Jr.

(Born: Nowata, OK on Feb. 3, 1943 – Passed: Nowata, OK on Dec. 2, 2020)

Frank DeMoss, aka: Big Frank, Big Red, Chief, Frankie, Rockhead, Uncle Frank, Pops & Dad, was born in Nowata to Frank Sr. & Hazel back in “the good ol’ days.” He had a talent for making friends wherever he went with his ability to tell a good story, his generosity and big heart, and of course, his Okie charm. He joined the Navy when he was 17 and served for 22 years. After retiring from the Navy, he tried to settle down to a civilian job, but said “tuh heck with this!” and joined up with MSC (Military Sealift Command) for several years. When he retired from MSC, he spent the rest of his time on this planet making the great “Frankie” migration every year; a circle inside the U.S. where he spent time with family and friends he made that settled all across this great nation, making more friends each year he travelled. If you were hungry, he’d barbecue for you. If something was broke, he’d help you fix it. If you were short on cash, he’d get you some dollars. If you needed to talk, he’d listen. He was a source of great advice and Okie wisdom. He only wanted those he loved “to be happy and not worry ‘bout nuthin!” All we can do now is enjoy the memories we have of him and try our best to follow his advice. He’s free now to sail through the universe and spread the good Okie word to parts beyond! May the seas lie smooth before you. May a gentle breeze forever fill your sails. May sunshine warm your face, and kindness warm your soul.

He is survived by his son Foy, his daughters Marion and Lena, and his wife Beth; his grandchildren Booker, Maya, Riley, & Mycah; Julia, his sister-in-law and his nieces & nephews Brian, Clint, Retha and all their children; his sisters Beverly and Sherry & his brother Steve; and of course, countless friends he held as family.

Do to all that is going on in the world right now, we as a family have decided to postpone the gathering at this time.  Hopefully next summer we will be able to have a memorial then.
