Fred Jewel Herman, age 81 of Vinita, died Sunday, January 1, 2012. Fred was born in Cottonwood Falls, KS on July 29, 1930, the son of Joe and Elfie (Taylor) Herman. On February 28, 1951 he was united in marriage to Wanda M. Olson and together they raised four sons. Fred worked as a truck driver for Elliott Trucking Company for 42 years. He was also a member of the Craig County Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Wanda Herman of the home, sons John Herman, Howard Herman and wife Brenda, Jim Herman, and Dale Herman all of Vinita, brother Kelly Herman and wife June of Vinita, grandchildren Kristie Seaton and husband Shad, Emily Lee and husband Dustin, and Clayton Herman, great grandchildren Taylor Seaton, William Seaton, and Stella Lee, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Elfie Herman, brother Ralph Herman, and sister Marjorie Dye. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2012 at the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the Craig County Baptist Church with Pastor Don Carden officiating. Interment will follow at Carselowey Cemtery.
