Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK 918-786-2261. Fred Nelson Keidel, 73, passed away on October 6, 2015 at his residence in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Fred was born on March 19, 1942 in Alton, Illinois. He was the oldest of three brothers born to Harold and Mary J. (Beatty) Keidel. Fred attended Alton High School. Fred enlisted in the United States Army in 1959 at the age of 17. He completed his high school education while serving his country. After he completed airborne training, he served in Germany and Southeast Asia. He was honorable discharged in 1966. Fred graduated from Pittsburg State University earning a degree in both Plastics Engineering and Secondary Education. Fred was united in marriage to the love of his life Lynn Torgler Rhodes on December 12, 1974. Fred ran his own welding shop in Girard, Kansas for several years before opening a plastics company in Parson, Kansas. In 1988 he became a public school teacher at the high school and middle school levels as an Industrial Arts teacher. He was employed by the Francis Howell School District in St. Charles, MO where in 2002 he was chosen Teacher of the Year. Fred retired from teaching in 2004 due to health concerns. In 2008, Fred and Lynn moved to the Grand Lake area where they joined the First Christian Church of Grove. In 2013 they became members of Faith Church of Grove where Fred remained a faithful member until his death. Fred is survived by his wife Lynn Keidel of the home, two sons Alfred L. Rhodes, III and his wife Erin of Girard, Kansas and Christopher P. Keidel and his wife Nicole of St. Charles, Missouri. He was blessed with two granddaughters Autumn Woolems and Zoe Rhodes. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Faith Church of Grove with Reverend Kim Wenzel officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8PM, Friday, October 9, 2015 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove, OK Friends and family can leave online condolences by viewing Fred's Book of Memories at www.honoringmemories.com.
