Gail Preston Bailey, 70 year old resident of Woodward, OK died Thursday, January 26 at his home. He was born on June 8, 1941 in Enid, Oklahoma to Homer and Pearl (Short) Bailey. He was a graduate of Garber High School. Gail grew up in the Garber / Covington oil fields. He joined the Air Force on February 2, 1961 and was on active duty to February 2, 1965. Gail was released from active duty on and assigned to Hq. Con AC (IRS) ARRC in Denver, completing His UMTS obligation on February 2, 1967. In June of 1967 Three Lockheed Aircraft went to Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam from Tinker Air Force Base. Gail received numerous certificates of training, aircraft maintenance technical and many other courses in his military career. Gail also had a diplomatic passport and top security clearance until his death. Gail had his own business "Bailey Construction Company" for many years and then worked for Gilbert Construction Company in Texas until his retirement. He had a love for dirt work and a natural ability for getting the work done. Gail married Wilma Von Schriltz in March of 1971 in Oklahoma City, she preceded him in death on September 18, 2010. They have one son Jeffery Preston Bailey, Jeff was proud of having part of his father's name. Gail loved family and friends, He and Wilma hosted bible studies in their home. On holidays and throughout the year they hosted friends and family for gatherings at their home. Gail helped many people and expected nothing in return. He was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church in Woodward. Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, and brother H. J. Bailey. The family includes; his son Jeff and girlfriend Raelene of Woodward, sisters Joyce Hodge and husband Albert of Graceville, Florida, and Gayola Morrow of Vian; numerous other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Vinita, with Pastor Ben O'dell officiating. Interment will follow at the Big Cabin Cemetery in Big Cabin, OK. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
