Galene Jordan, 63, died April 26, 2011, at her home in Pearland, Texas. She was born June 4, 1947, in McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of Irene Ozbun Williamson and David Williamson. She married Billy Gene Jordan on Jan 22, 1966, in Nowata, Oklahoma. She graduated from Nowata (OK) High School in 1965 and attended Coffeyville (Kan.) Junior College. Upon the death of her mother, Galene lived with the family of her maternal aunt, Beulah and Clarence Morris; cousins Shirley Willis, Norman Morris, and Bette Lefler, from age 7 to age 15. During this time, she accepted Jesus Christ. When her father remarried, to Ida Reich Williamson, she returned to live with him and her stepmother, where she remained until she married. She worked at a secretary at First Baptist Church of Stillwater, OK., as Billy earned bachelors and master's degrees at Oklahoma State University. She held various secretarial positions as Billy's career in agronomy progressed through stops in Hutchison, KS; Vernon, TX; Friendswood, TX; Newport, AR.; and Pearland, TX. Galene served the Lord by singing in church choirs, playing hand bells, working in the nursery, teaching Acteens, Vacation Bible School and fifth grade Sunday school for more than 20 years, participating in leading the Women's Missionary Union programs, ministering to those in various nursing homes, leading Bible studies and participating in various missions and outreach. She and Billy have opened their hearts and home to many. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Billy; daughter Melissa Caywood, her husband Kurt and grandchildren Jack and Madeline; daughter Jennifer Gilbert and grandchildren Emily, Cory, Katherine, and Charles; daughter Amy Madgeburg, her husband Andreas and grandchildren Ashlee and Ethan. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Pearland, TX. The family will accept friends at 6 p.m. in the Abundant Life Center with the memorial service at 7 p.m. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with a Funeral service to follow at Benjamin Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. in Nowata, OK with burial at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Pearland for the Kenya Orphanage and to the International Mission Board.
