G.E. Jones Jr. 88 year old Grove, Oklahoma resident passed away Friday October 1, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma following an extended illness. G.E. was born on January 6, 1922 in Weatherford, Oklahoma to G.E. Jones Sr. and Arble (Terry) Jones. G.E. lived most of his life in Weatherford and graduated from high school there in 1939. An outstanding basketball player he also played football and then served his country during World War II as a forward observer for the U.S. Army. G.E. fought in several battles including the Battle of the Bulge. G.E. married Nina on August 5, 1942He was a jeweler and ran an art gallery and frame shop for years. G.E. was very active in his community and was a Scoutmaster as well as a Pastmaster in the Masonic Lodge. G.E. also was a volunteer with the Hospital. G.E. was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Geraldine Eaton. Survivors include a son Terry and wife Sudi Jones of Grove, Oklahoma, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday October 6, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Grove, Oklahoma Reverend James Wilder will officiate. Interment will be at Weatherford Cemetery at 4p.m. in Weatherford, Oklahoma with Reverend Darrell Moore officiating.
