Gene Newcomb

Gene Leota Newcomb, 84 year-old former Vinita resident, died Sunday, December 9, 2007 in Broken Arrow. She was born May 15, 1923 in Tulsa to James R. and Olive (Woods) Daley. Gene graduated from Tulsa Will Rogers High School. On February 13, 1963 she married Fields Leroy Newcomb in Tulsa, and moved to Vinita. Fields preceded her in death on August 3, 1999. Gene had worked at Harrington's in Tulsa, and at Cinch Connectors in Vinita. She enjoyed sewing, hand crafts and baking and was a member of the Bunker Hill Baptist Church. The family includes: her son, Johnny West of Round Rock, Texas, a daughter, Janet Newcomb of Tulsa, step-son Darrell Newcomb of Cleveland, Ohio, a brother in-law, Bill Newcomb and wife Sybil of Midwest City, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death, were her husband, two sisters, three brothers and her parents. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the White Oak Baptist Church, with Chaplin Delana Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the Resthaven Cemetery in Sperry, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. Online condolences can be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
