Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555. Geneva Irene Eby 98 year old longtime Adair resident passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Heartsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Vinita. She was born on April 26, 1918 in Adair to Martha (Merritt) and Acy James Gibson. Geneva graduated from Adair High School in 1935. She married Joe White Eby in November of 1946, he preceded her in death on January 29, 2004. Joe and Geneva ran Eby's grocery in Adair for many years. Geneva was a member of the Adair United Methodist Church. She loved to fish for crappie and cook it up for her boys to eat, she also loved to visit with people at the store, and was a huge sports fan. Geneva also served her community in many aspects as well. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Joe, siblings, Juanita Vogt, Betty Floyd, Ruby Hagler and Austin Gibson. The family includes her children, Mary Etta Beaver of Vinita, Randall Eby and wife Kathy of Prague, Ronald Eby and wife Ellen of Berryville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Lesley Birdwell, Joanie Sliger, Joseph Eby and Maria Williams; great-grandchildren, Hope, Shawn, Emma, Caroline and Ava Grace; numerous other relatives and friends also survive. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Adair United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dylan Ward officiating. Interment will follow at the Benge Cemetery near Adair.
