Geneva Irene Lance, 69 year old Langley resident, passed away at her home Friday, October 17, 2008. She was born in Vinita on February 6, 1939, to Bertie and Clifford Gideon. She was retired from Amco Oil Company where she worked many years as a computer programmer. She attended Pittsburg State College and earned a bachelor's degree in education. She taught school for many years, before changing her career. She was a member of the Ketchum United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer and sang in the choir. She was an avid bridge player and loved to go to bluegrass festivals and listen to her friends, "Making Memories", perform. One of her other favorite pastimes was to spend time with her family. Survivors include: four brothers, Elmo Gideon and wife Heather of Thomasville, Ga., Jim Chambers and wife Sharon of TUlsa, Ron Chambers and wife Cherl of Miami, and Phil Chambers and wife Pat of Corning, Calif.; theree sisters, Eloise Flood of Springfield, Mo., Barbara Porter of Dallas and Beth Griswold of Langley; several nieces and nephews; an extended church family and many friends. Preceding her in death were her mother and father; her step-father Luther Chambers, and two brothers, Ivan Gideon and Clark Chambers. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Ketchum United MEthodist Church with Rev. Dianna Bradford and Dr. Carl Hamilton officiating.
