George Falling

February 22, 1925 — June 22, 2009

George Washington Falling, 84 of Bernice, Ok. died in a tragic auto accident on June 22, 2009. He was born on February 22, 1925 to Fred and Elvina Falling near Estella community. He attended Wolf school and graduated from Centralia High School in 1943. George entered the U.S. Army shortly after graduation and attended basic training at Camp Fanning, Texas. He served with the 1st Division, 1st Army in the European Theatre at Omaha beach during the Normandy Invasion and was wounded at St. Lo, France on July 26th, 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart and presented to him by General Eisenhower. He also earned the Combat Infinity Badge, Two Bronze Stars, Rifleman Badge and Good Conduct Badge from the European Theatre. He was discharged from the Army in 1945 at the Army Hospital in Chickasha, Ok. He graduated from OSU in 1949 and earned his degree in Animal Husbandry. He married Blanche Cordray in 1947, she died in 1959. He married Geneva (Samples) Willard in 1962. George had 4 children from his first marriage and Geneva had 2 children from her previous marriage. Together they raised 6 children together on their farm NW of Vinita. George was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, his former wife, one grandson, Toby Falling, one sister Betty Spence and Brothers Leroy and Louis Falling. Survivors include his wife Geneva of 47years, Two daughters, Debbie Stanley and husband Fred of Vinita, Sharon Champlin and husband John of Muskogee, 4 sons, Marty Falling and wife Theresa of Riverton, Ks, George Glen Falling and wife Debbie of New Market, AL, Fred Falling of Vinita, and Bobby Falling and wife Sheila of Broken Arrow. Grandchildren include Brandi Carpenter and husband Richard of Bernice. Courtney Young and husband Peanut of Tulsa. Jacqueline Champlin of Tulsa Bronwyn Huddleston and husband Philip, Attalie Neal and husband Cody all from Baxters Springs, Ks. Jennifer Briar and husband Larry of Peru, In Tapitha Georgeanne Schwenk and husband John of Lawton Jake Lewis Falling of Lawton. Misty Falling, Robert and wife Summer Falling all of Vinita. Tracey Falling and wife Teresa of Collinsville. Robby Falling and his wife Alexis of Broken Arrow. Great Grandchildren include Olivia, Logan, Cooper, Ty-Bird, Ky, Zane, Chelsea, Blake, Kaylee, Loren, Parker, Carter, Roxanne, Toby, KC, Jason, Alexis, and Baby Thatcher on the way. Also surviving siblings include, Thelma Allison of Vinita Imagene Martin of Chelsea Roena Carpenter of Bixby Don Falling of Helena, Montana Frank Falling of Glendale, Az. Memberships include: American Legion DAV VFW Fairland Senior Citizens George Attended church at the Bernice Baptist Church. George was raised in a Christian home. During his time in the Army and while in engaging in combat in France, George dedicated his life to Christ with an Army Chaplin by his side. He was later baptized at the Church of Christ and was added to the church and led his life dedicated to God and his family. Hobbies and Interests: George loved raising cattle and farming and retired in1975 and sold his farm. His interests then changed to fishing, his daily walks and listening to music. His love for his Wife, Children and Grandchildren was evident in his zest for life. He was a wonderful provider and he and Geneva shared many adventures and travels together. He was a wonderful Husband and Father and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The Funeral Service and Military Rites will be held Friday, June 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bernice Baptist Church, with Pastors Odell Carpenter and Chuck Price officiating. Interment will be at the Timpson Chapel Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
