George Edward Johnson, age 78 and resident of Copan, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville. George was born October 1, 1934 in Northeastern Oklahoma, 10th of 13 children. He was the son of Elmo Harvey Johnson and Ella Lenora (Templeton) Johnson. He grew up in the Wann/Copan area where he received his formal education. George served his country in the U.S. Army before receiving his Honorable Discharge and returning to the Copan area. George and the former Miss Frances Gale Dobbs made their home in the Copan area where they raised their four children. They would have been married 54 years in March of this year. George was employed with the Reda Pump Company in Bartlesville in Data Control Inventory until his retirement in 1992. George was very much a "family man". When he wasn't busy on the farm with his dad, George liked to hunt and was involved with his children's Little League Baseball. As if raising four children wasn't enough, he and Frances took on raising four of their grandchildren, which was the beginning of George's second childhood. After his retirement, George bought "10 Acres Recreation" water slide and go cart track in Bartlesville. Before George's health declined, he was involved with Micro Sprint Racing with three of his grandsons. He will be greatly missed by all his family and his many friends and acquaintances. George was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers-Bill, J. R. "Sam", and Carl; seven sisters-Treva, Elsie, Esther, Julia, Phoebe, Edna, and Mary. He is survived by his wife Frances of the home in Copan; three sons-Joe Johnson and Jill of Bartlesville, Mark Johnson and Sally of Dewey, Jerry Johnson of Granby, Missouri; one daughter-Wendy Wickham and Donnie of Copan; 10 grandchildren-Jason Johnson and Billie, Julie Johnson, Jeremy Wickham, Terrance Wickham, Chad Johnson, Robyn Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, Bradley Johnson, Codi Johnson, Shannon Mansker and David; seven great-grandchildren-Tyler, Trevor, Karson, Kamden, Emma, Kylie and Aubrey; one sister-Mrs. Duane (Lois) Ward of Wichita Falls, Texas; one brother-Richard "Shorty" Johnson and Sandy of Mesquite, Nevada; three sisters-in-law-Mrs. J.R.
