George "Wayne" Pendergraft

Bartlesville, Oklahoma

George Wayne Pendergraft,85, and a lifelong resident of Bartlesville, died Monday evening, April 21, 2025, at Ignite Medical Resort at Adams Parc, Bartlesville, OK.

Wayne, as he was known to friends and family alike, was born March 19, 1940, to Alvin Earnest Pendergraft, Sr. and Helen Priscilla (Wiles) Pendergraft. Wayne grew up in Bartlesville, attended Bartlesville Schools and was a 1958 graduate of College High. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, until March of 1962. Upon his Honorable Discharge, Wayne returned to Bartlesville and married the love of his life, Peggy Roberson on June 22, 1962, at Highland Park Baptist Church.

He was a tax accountant for Phillips Petroleum, until his retirement. Wayne was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church, the American Legion and a former member of Moose Lodge. His passion was hunting and collecting rocks and crafting beautiful jewelry from the stones. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed carving, especially with balsa wood.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy of the home; by two children, Paula Pyle and her husband, Scott of Kingwood, Texas and Michael Pendergraft and his wife, Chelsea of Bartlesville; one brother, Paul Pendergraft and his wife, Kathy of Houston, Texas and by two grandchildren, William Wayne Pendergraft and Elizabeth Erin Pendergraft. He was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Alvin Earnest Pendergraft, Jr., and by one sister, Terry Gimlin.
