Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK (918) 253-3222 - George Wayne Starr, 79 year old Kansas, OK, resident passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015. George was born on May 7, 1936 in Claremore, OK, to Jose Starr and Inez (Hogner) Starr. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic. He served in the United States Navy and then the Navy reserve for eight years. George flew airplanes and had his pilot's license. He worked on his bulldozer for friends and family and enjoyed checking cattle. George also enjoyed spending time with the family. He was County Commissioner for Delaware County District 3, and served on the Delaware County Draft Board, Adair County Credit Board, and a member of the Oaks Fire Dept. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Inez Hogner Starr; two brothers, James Thomas Starr of Montgomery, AL, and Dennis Ray Starr of Langley, OK. George is survived by his wife, Evelyn Starr of the home, one son, Gerald Starr of Tahlequah, OK; two daughters, Rhonda Starr and Georgia Starr both of Kansas, OK; one sister, JoAnn Landrum of Mustang, OK, one brother Kenneth David Starr of Colcord, OK, one sister in law, Hellon Starr of Montgomery, AL; five grandchildren, Seth Starr, Jordan Hodges, Drew Hodges, and Kynder Starr, Cheyenne Starr, and three great grandchildren, Joe Starr, Mason Starr, and Cash Hodges. Funeral Services will be held on at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Eben Ezer Lutheran Church in Oaks, OK. Pastor Don Marshal and Pastor Merideth Harbor officiating.
