Georgia Ewing

Georgia Vivian Bauer Ewing, age 91, a resident of Bartlesville died Saturday December 9, 2006, peacefully after a short illness at Jane Phillips Medical Center. Mrs. Ewing was born January 25, 1915 in Craig County, rural Bluejacket, Oklahoma the daughter of George Ernest Bauer and Lucrettia Mae Akers. Georgia moved with her family to Bartlesville in 1918 and she attended Bartlesville schools graduating in 1933. Georgia Vivian Bauer and Clyde G. Ewing were united in marriage on November 17, 1934 in Bartlesville, Ok. They made their home in Borger, Texas working for Phillips Petroleum Company. While in Borger their first child was born, Phillip Eugene Ewing. Shortly after the Ewing's moved back to Bartlesville in 1936 a second child was born, Carolyn Ann Ewing. Mrs. Ewing was a homemaker until the 1950's when she began employment with Phillips Petroleum Company as a comp operator in the Natural Gas Department for over 10 years. She later worked for Community Action and Social Security part time. Mrs. Ewing was a member of the First Methodist Church of Bartlesville where she was baptized in 1925. Georgia was active in square dancing for many years, a bridge player for many years and belonged to the BOK Senior Advantage Club since it originated in 1989. She was on the bus and very active until her mid eighties. Georgia enjoyed working in the yard with her flowers and vegetable gardens. Mrs. Ewing is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Hughes of Nowata, Oklahoma four grandsons and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde G. Ewing in 1985, one son, Phillip Eugene Ewing in 1977, one grand daughter Victoria Lynne in 1978 and one great grandson Michael Shawn in 2001. Funeral services for Georgia Vivian Bauer Ewing will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Rod Leupp of the First United Methodist Church will preside over the services. Funeral services are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
