Longtime Nowata resident and businessman Gerald Edward "Jerry" DeLozier, passed from this life Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. He was born October 11, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Paul Oliver and Dorothy (Creason) DeLozier. Jerry was educated in the Chelsea and Nowata Schools Systems. He continued his education at Oklahoma A&M (later renamed Oklahoma State University) where he earned his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with a petroleum option. On February 6, 1951 Jerry married the love of his life, Mable Ruth Gatewood in Nowata. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jerry was very proud of his unit, the 45th Division. After being discharged, Jerry's employer moved him and his family all over the world. He later purchased and expanded Treat Rite Water Labs Inc. here in Nowata where he served as CEO of the company. He enjoyed his work and his employees held a dear place in his heart. He was thankful for each one of them and appreciated their work in making his business a success. Jerry was a member and elder of the First Christian Church of Nowata. He served his community many years serving on the Hospital Board, Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors, the Nowata County Excise Board, and the First National Bank (Regent Bank) Board of Directors. He was a very civic minded man and was a member of the Nowata Rotary Club for many years. Jerry enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time at his cabin on Grand Lake with his family and friends. He also enjoyed a round of golf and working in his yard. Above all he enjoyed his family. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren and was very proud of them and their accomplishments. He will be missed by all who knew him. Preceding Mr. DeLozier in death are his parents, Paul and Dorothy DeLozier. Mr. DeLozier leaves behind his wife Ruth, of the home in Nowata, a daughter Debbie Fink, and her husband Mike, of Nowata, two sons Gerald Edward (Ed) DeLozier II, and his wife Lori, of Tulsa, Jim DeLozier, and his wife Debbie, of Nowata, grandchildren, Chris Fink, and his wife Alice, Cale DeLozier, Lacey Schaaf, Cassie Miller, and husband Travis, Kim Wendell, and husband Chad, and Kati DeLozier, great grandchildren Emily Fink, Eva Fink, Graham Schaaf, and London Lue Hansen, a sister Shirley Shearheart, and husband Bill, of Nowata, a brother, John Paul DeLozier and his wife Jackie, of Massachusetts, many other relatives and a host of friends.
