Grove, OK - Gerald "Jerry" Nelson Nichols passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Grove, Oklahoma. He was born on November 21, 1931 to Chuck and Gracie Nichols in Bloomington, Illinois. Jerry was an avid perch and crappie fisherman on Lake Eucha. The fish are resting much easier today. Jerry was retired from the California Carpenters Union. He also established Nichols Overhead Doors in 1975. He was out on a service call two weeks previous to his illness. He loved the Lake Eucha area and looked forward to his Memorial Day Fish Fry. We never knew how many potatoes to peel or beans to cook because friends came from far and near to dad's fish fry. Survivors include Barbara Wilson and puppy dog of the home; daughter Leasa Nichols and family, Scott Levine, Kelsyn Nichols, Trent Harp, Scruffy and Sarge of Vinita; daughter Marti Nichols and family, Quince Nichols and Capt'n Jack of Pryor; two sisters, Judy Brandt of Grove and Martha & Ralph Hendrickson of Lincoln, Illinois; one brother Gene and Pat Nichols of Lakewood, California; one close nephew Gerald "Jerry Boy" Nichols of Grindley, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Don Nichols, son Mark Nichols, daughter Cathy Jo Nichols and granddaughter Sydney Jo Nichols. Dad had many friends at Grove and Lake Eucha who will miss him at the campsite this spring. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 1, 2010 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Kenny Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Row Cemetery in Colcord.
