Gladys Charlotte (Campbell) Adkins, 98, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma died Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Gladys was born September 9, 1912 in Osage County (I.T.), Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Melia and Charles Campbell. She grew up on the family homestead which is now "Campbell's Field" at Woolaroc Wildlife Preserve. Gladys had a 35-plus year career with the Pawhuska City Hospital where she worked as a receptionist. She was also employed by Clifford's Gift Shop of Pawhuska. Gladys enjoyed nature and the outdoors. She liked to garden. Most of all, Gladys enjoyed her family. She loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She lived to be 98 years old because she was always waiting on the next addition to her family. Gladys was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Gladys was preceded in death by: her parents; and siblings: Jean Brown, Helen Martin, Lena Davis and Virgil Campbell. She is survived by: her son, James L. Adkins of Claremore, Oklahoma, five grandchildren: Jerry Sue Shaffer and her husband Larry of Chelsea, Oklahoma, James Leroy Adkins and his wife Carol of Sperry, Oklahoma; Karen Elizabeth Eckert and her husband Tim of Wann, Oklahoma; Belinda Jean Eckert of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Christopher Borgsmiller of California; 11 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren, along with a number of other relatives and friends.
