Gladys Charles

November 21, 1935 — March 17, 2017

Luginbuel Funeral Home - Vinita - 918-256-5555........... Gladys Mae Charles, 81 year old Vinita resident, went home to her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family, on March 17, 2017. Gladys was born in Pryor, OK on November 21, 1935 to Cliff and Mae (Scammahorn) Charles. She attended school in Adair, but finished her studies at White Oak. Gladys was the family historian. She could be asked dates of marriages, births, or when a loved one passed away and she always knew. She loved to cook for her father after the passing of her mother. She had the gift of making things and could embroider, crochet, and sew. She loved doing puzzles and reading. Above all Gladys loved her family and her "family" at Heartsworth Nursing Center. She would always tell her caregivers Thank You and I Love You when they came to help her. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her sisters: Shirley Hayes and husband Jim of White Oak and Barbara Smith and husband James of Vinita, sister-in-law Florence Jackson, numerous nieces and nephews, special friend Lavern Charles, as well as her extended family, the Charlie Hayes family. She is preceded in death by her parents Cliff and Mae Charles, two brothers: JB and RC Charles, and two sisters: Maxine Charles and Edith Stephens. Memorials may be sent to the Craig County Shriners: P.O. Box 81, Vinita, OK 74301 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
