Gladys Marrs

Benjamin Funeral Service - Nowata, Oklahoma Funeral services for Gladys Lucille Marrs, 97, of Nowata, OK will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at First Church of God, Nowata with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Interment at the direction of Benjamin Funeral Home to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is at 9 a.m. at First Church of God one hour prior to the service. Lucille was born in Nowata on Nov. 14, 1916 to Charles Jack and Josephine Holinsworth. She graduated from Nowata High in 1936 and married Ralph Marrs in 1939. They had three sons, two of whom died at birth. In 1951 the Marrs family moved to California where Lucille worked as a hospital cook for 20 years. After Ralph died in 1974, Lucille moved back to Nowata. She was a charter member of Nowata's First Church of God, where she enjoyed being involved in the music program and a women's missionary group. Survivors include her son James (Betty) Marrs, grandson Jeffrey (Carin) Marrs and great grandson Julian Marrs of California, as well as her sister Deanie (Sidney) Little of Delaware and brother Keiffer (Becky) Holinsworth of Nowata. Lucille was predeceased by her husband Ralph Marrs, two sons Ralph, Jr & Marvin Marrs, her parents, three sisters and eight brothers.
