Gladys Verna Ross, 88-year-old Grove resident, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. Gladys Verna Ross was born June 27, 1919 in Wimer, Oklahoma to William Thomas Gregory and Mattie T. Coker-Gregory. She grew up in Coffeyville then later moved to Nowata where she resided for 50 years. For the last 7 years she was living in Grove. Mrs. Ross loved to write poetry and draw pictures. She was also an exceptional housekeeper who was deemed a "clean freak" by some of her family. Many things in life brought her enjoyment, but she most enjoyed spending time with her children and with her grandchildren. Mrs. Ross is survived by three sons, Gene Gregory of Chelsea, Richard and his wife Juanita York of Bartlesville, and Larry York of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; by two daughters, Emily and husband Jack Worthington of Ramona and Becky Kraft of Fairland; by 10 grandchildren; by 10 great-grandchildren; and by 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her first husband, Lee York; by her second husband, Raymond Ross; by 9 brothers and sisters; and by a granddaughter, Michelle Huey.
