Glenn B. Epperley, longtime resident, died Friday morning at his home in Bartlesville at the age of 91. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Bartlesville on Monday, April 23, at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. C. Mack Roark and Dr. Joe Fowler officiating with interment to follow in the Non Cemetery in Hughes County with the committal prayers by James Inman, Mr. Epperley's nephew. Services are under the direction of the Neekamp - Luginbuel Funeral Home. Glenn Berdell Epperley was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico on June 4, 1915 to Nellie and Sherman Epperley. He was reared in Okfuskee County and graduated from Paden High School in 1933. He worked his way through East Central College in Ada and graduated with a B.S. in Education in 1938. He met Lois Inman through a mutual love of singing, and they were married in Durant on March 11, 1939. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Epperley taught in the communities of Plainview and Dale before moving to Wichita in 1942. There, Glenn supported the war effort working in a Cessna aircraft construction plant and was a member of the national champion Cessnaires barbershop quartet. Following the war, the family moved to Stillwater where Glenn raised his family, was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and taught vocal music at Stillwater High School. His influence on his many students was profound and still exhibited today in their love of music. In 1951 he received his Master's degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma. The Epperleys moved to Bartlesville in 1969 where Glenn was a counselor for the State Vocational Rehabilitation Agency until his retirement in 1979 and a member of First Baptist Church. Since that time he had enjoyed traveling to Colorado and South Texas, golfing at Sunset Golf Club, fishing and taking pride in his children and grandchildren. Mr. Epperley is survived by two sons, Cecil P. Epperley and wife Kathy of Bartlesville and G. Barry Epperley and wife Jane of Tulsa; one daughter, Susan G. Mueller and husband Stan of Bartlesville; six grandsons, Jeff Epperley, Brad Epperley and Tim Epperley of Tulsa, Craig Epperley of Balboa, California, Jacob Mueller and wife Susan of Denver, Colorado and Scott Mueller of Dallas, Texas; one granddaughter, Angie Keeter, husband John and children Heidi, Johnny and Mackenzie of Ozark, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Memorial's have been established in Mr. Epperley's name with the Bartlesville Choral Society.
